ISUWEEK’22 FREE HEALTH SERVICES: 231 ELDERS, 50 CHILDREN GET BENEFIT ~Ajasa-Info

The Ikorodu General Hospital, Imota Annex that was known for low patronage was brought alive yesterday, Monday, 14th of November, 2022 as Imota Student’s Union hosts the Day-3 program of ISUWEEK’22 tagged; Free Medical Check Up, Drugs/Health & Waste Management Enlightenment in the hospital’s compound.

The program which is one of the most anticipated in the annual line-up of programs of ISU WEEK witnessed the presence of twenty-six (26) medical personnel which include; doctors, pharmacists, laboratory officials, pharmacists, environmental officials, health educators and auxiliary nurses which attended to two hundred and thirty-one (231) elders which ages ranges from 16 – 80+years and children from 1 – 15years.

First to speak was the Public Relation Officer, Ikorodu General Hospital, Mr. Saheed Yekini, speaking the local dialect, Ijebu, and translating to Yoruba and English, he encouraged the participants to make use of the general hospital in the community, discouraged improper waste disposal culture and also sensitize the people on the need to subscribe to ilere eko, an health insurance scheme of Lagos state government. The people were so happy for the way he speaks and also for assuring them that, they will not leave not until the last person is attended to by the doctor.

Speaking to our correspondence, Comrade Adenusi David Olamide, the Chairman, ISUWEEK’22 Organising Committee said, ” this program is organized to sensitize our people of the dangers of drug abuse, improper waste disposal and also to avail the people the opportunity of a free diagnosis, free consultations with doctors, free eye check up service and free drugs.” Speaking further, he noted that, “most of the people in the community fall under the low income earners, and while struggling to put three square meal on the table, they barely have left over resources to be spent on checkup and other medical services. Hence, the organization of this program”.

The Health Educator from Ikorodu General Hospital, advised the participants to often check their B.P and visit the general hospital equipped with qualified medical professional and updated facilities for checkup and not to wait till they are overwhelmed with health issues before visiting hospital. She also advised against drug abuse and discouraged the practices of going to the pharmaceutical shops without a doctor prescription.

Speaking to the participants, the Environmental Health Official, charged all the participants to be conscious of their environment, because there can only be a healthy living, if the environment is clean. She advised the participants to sort their wastes; the biodegradable to a container and the none biodegradable to be sorted in another container; all should be in a container with covered lid placed at the front of the house.

According to one of the participants who identified himself as Oklaho, he said “this program is one program people always look out for in the community. It gives us the opportunity to see doctors, get health related advise and free drugs. He appreciated Imota Student’s Union for the opportunity and wished every members of the union well in all their endeavours”.

The President of Imota Student’s Union, Comrade Ogunbowale Olatayo Bodunrin appreciated the Director of Ikorodu General Hospital for collaborating with the union. “I’m deeply indebted to the Director of Ikorodu General Hospital for partnering with the union. They supplied us with drugs and personnel and that really boosted our coverage. Also, I want to appreciate all the public and government hospital in Imota and Agbowa that released their personnel for the outreach. More so, I’m also indeed grateful for the presence of His Royal Highness, Oba Mufashir Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota and the Olufoworesete II.

It is important to note that ISUWEEK’22 programs still continue, and while am so grateful for the kind gestures of our supporters, I also want to call for more supports. We really do have lot of programs and projects that target all age brackets, especially the students in Imota and its environs and we are currently running out of the resources to execute the programs and projects. Hence, we call on all and sundry to come to our aid, so that together, we can build Imota community of our dreams”. He concluded.

ISUWEEK’22: IMOTA STUDENTS’ UNION WALK AGAINST SOCIAL VICES ~Ajasa-Info

The Imota students Union held a walk against social vices as part of one of the activities lined up for their union week, the walk took place 12th of November, in a bid to inform people about the vices and it’s implications.

Secondary students from different schools gathered with placards which says no to social vices; cultism, street fighting, drug abuse, killing, cybercrime, gambling, thuggery, stealing, smoking, improper waste management and indecent dress.

“I want to appreciate everyone present, we want to walk against social vices and we have gotten to a stage where we the students and the youths are not happy about what is happening in our society and we have stood up to walk against it, in doing this, we are making ourselves the solution to the problem caused in our society.” Said by Comrade Ogunbowale Bodunrin.


Dr. Olujimi Adejo, a civil lecturer of Lagos State University and also the Chairman National Association Academic Technologists, appreciated the conveners of the event, and encourages the attendees to make the best use of this opportunity.

“It’s a greater program, to know that we have been faxed with a lot of insecurity in these town for a while now, I think it is a right step in the right direction at this time that will change a lot of vices in this society . The youths should take it upon themselves to do the right thing at the right time despite our failed leaders.” He said

Mr Lekan ogunbowale a director of commerce and industry said that three things in life is very important, accountability, consistency, contentment and humility.

Comrade fasasi Abdulraheem, a former speaker of the Lagos State University Ojo and a current staff of the Lagos State University department of physics , addressed the students and told them they are training themselves on how to stand in the future.

Imota Students’ Union (ISU) unveiled her official logo for the 2022 edition as he set to hold her annual programme tagged; ISU WEEK 2022 again. This symbolizes the readiness and preparedness of the union to engage the students, youths and senior citizens in the Imota community through her life-transforming, mind blowing, efficacy and community developmental programmes.

The logo which was unveiled during a Fire Side Chat with this year Chairman Organizing Committee for ISU WEEK 2022, Comrade Adenusi Davide Olamide and ably moderated by Comr. Shosanwo Rashidat. In the chat, the Chairman was humbly welcomed by the moderator with succinct of questions asked as regards the preparedness of the annual week program.

The chairman of the committee while responding to questions, introduced himself and as well other members of the committee for the annual week program as he appreciated the effort of the committee for the preparedness so far. In his further responses he make it know that the picture of this year week is coming in total package after the logo unveiling as he rate the preparation of the union comrades 100 percentage for the commencement of the week.

He concluded the question asked as he appreciated the gingering and untiring spirit of all the union’s comrades, Sponsors and philanthropist for the support in time memory. He as well calls for more support towards the planning and execution of the forthcoming biggest programme of the union to make it success it has been designed for.

After over 130 students that applied for the jamb Aptitude test done last year during the ISU Week program of Imota students’ union the selected beneficiaries has been fully registered this year.

With hearts full of appreciation as the 2021 ISU Week Program finally reaches its totality after the registration of the Jamb form beneficiaries, the entire student body of Imota, including the Executives of *Imota Students’ Union (ISU)*, with utmost warmth appreciate the sponsors of the *2021 ISU WEEK JAMB FORM SCHOLARSHIP* who for the love of humanity and for improving the educational stand of the town. He further make it know that after this registration, the union lool forward to subjecting them all to a rigorous *CBT Training/Practice* towards their examination and as well proper monitoring, and guidance through the period of the examination to ensure they all performance excellently well. Imota Students’ Union Unveil their activities for their annual Week Programmme ~Ajasa-Info

In a fire side chat organised by the planning committee, The chairman of the committee, Comrade Oyebanjo Agboola said the annual week is scheduled for November 12th to 21st, 2021.

He also gave an highlight of the week programmme to:

Day 1: Special Jum’at Service at Imota Central Mosque on Friday 12th November, 2021.

Day 2: Imota Fitness Walk On Saturday 13th Of November, 2021. He said the fitness walk Is a new Initiative in the union week programmme meant to serve as platform of social network amongst youths, Top personalities and senior government officials in Ikorodu Division.

Day 3: Free Health Englightement on Monday 15th November, 2021 at Ikorodu General Hospital, Imota Annex. “It’s our own little way of giving back to the community through our sponsors by providing free drugs and other medical services to the people and we have reached out to over 800 persons through this annual free health Englightement”, the Chairman said.

Day 4: Free JAMB form Scholarship for Students’ on Wednesday 17th of October, 2021. He said on this day aptitude test will be organised for prospective JAMBites after which 50 best results in the test will be awarded free JAMB Scholarship. The chairman also said the Union has reached about 200 students in Imota and it’s environs through this programmme and they’re in their respective tertiary institution studying one course or the other including himself.

Day 5: Free Vocational Training on Adire slated to hold on Thursday 18th Of November at Imota Public Library environment. The programme will see to the training of 50 Students’ on adire.

Day 6: Grand Finale/ Youth Educational Symposium on Saturday 20th Of November at Admos Hotels and Suites. This is the closing ceremony of the entire week programmme and it’s on this day we bring on board professionals facilitators to discuss and share with us knowledge and wealth of experience in the theme we’ve choosen for the week.

The chairman of the committee, Comrade Oyebanjo Agboola delve into the theme of the week. He said this year we are looking at THE NEW NORMAL.

The New Normal: Having seen the impact of the novel Corona virus and it’s devastating consequences on various human endeavour like the Education, Business, Communication, et all.

The committee deem it fit to let the youths and Students’ see the importance and relevance of Technology which is ultimately our life saver during this trying time.

We’re looking forward enlightening both youths and Students’ on how they can make maximum use of Technology In their Education as well as in their business, because during the national lockdown, business, schools were forced to shut down but only those who have get themselves acquainted with the use of Technology were able to sustain themselves.

This is also one of the reasons we want to our youths and Students’ maximise the opportunity embedded in the use Technology, The Chairman Said.

He said the Union will be willing to partner and receive support and Sponsorship in any kind from the general towards the actualization of this programmme.
