• Lagosians propagate ’Greater Lagos Rising’ in roadshows, boat concerts

A multi-dimensional roadshow, comprising power bikers, activation rigs and mobile advertising vans, was spotted across cities in Lagos State on Wednesday with flashes of an appealing slogan: “A Greater Lagos Rising”. The overall activities formally flagged off the re-election campaign of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In riverine communities, hundreds of residents rolled out branded canoes in a special sea show, traversing the Lagos waterways to kick off the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship electioneering.

The events culminated into a press briefing held in Ikeja, where Gov. Sanwo-Olu and Director General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Sen. Ganiyu Solomon, unveiled the campaign assets, including theme, colour and font branding.

Represented by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the Governor declared: “I am running on records; get ready for more.”

Sanwo-Olu said the theme of his second term campaign reinforced continuity of his achievements in first term. He said the idea of “Greater Lagos Rising” captured the passion and resilience of young creative citizens toiling to change the story of the State in music, movies, fashion, sports, manufacturing and technological innovations.

The Governor said renewal of his mandate would further strengthen his administration’s resolve to scale up efficiency of his development blueprint, known as THEMES Agenda, and unlock more socio-economic opportunities for hardworking residents.

He said: “Our campaign assets capture the audacity and spirit of Lagos in the rising of the city. The campaign assets are not some forms of self-adulation but fitting credit to the contributions of hardworking Lagosians, especially the youth, to the height Lagos has attained today. This campaign is not about me and my team alone. It is a tribute to all our youths who are doing amazing works to put Lagos on the global map. Renewing our mandate will represent people’s confidence in the collective progress we have made in the last three and half years against all odds.

“There is no doubt we are running on records. Evidence of our achievements abounds to discerning minds. Lagos is on the threshold of history as the first sub-national to deliver on a mass rail system; the Blue Rail Line is being test run ahead of commissioning and operations in the coming weeks. The Red Line is also scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2023. We have completed and inaugurated 16 housing schemes within this first term. Our people are confident that we can do a lot more after they witnessed the commissioning 62 fire-fighting vehicles in a day to keep our citizens safe.

“This administration, within three years, upgraded two tertiary institutions to degree-awarding schools to raise human capital and prepare our young people for future jobs. Our Government trained 18,000 teachers under the Eko Excel Initiative. People who benefited from Ilera Eko Health Insurance scheme now see the proof that something is changing in the State. Honest residents know that Imota Rice Mill and the Lekki Deep Sea Port are incontrovertible proofs that a greater Lagos is indeed rising and unfolding before their eyes. Now, imagine what we can do with additional four years.”

The Governor explained the essence of yellow as dominant colour in the campaign materials, noting that the shade symbolised the energy, youthfulness, enthusiasm, optimism and happiness which are common expressions among Lagos residents.

The brand colour also came with a mix of foggy, signifying warmth, transformation, freedom and fun said to be hallmarks of the State.

All the colours used, Sanwo-Olu said, collectively evoked the resilience of the State to remain on the path of progress, despite being hit by global COVID-19 pandemic and the violence resulting from ENDSARS protests.

He said: “Our campaign will be reinforcing the energy, remarkable audacity and unbroken resilience of our people. Rising is a proof of growth. Our actions in the last three and half years have blended into our Greater Lagos mantra, with the State rising and transforming before our very eyes.

“When we say a ‘Greater Lagos is Rising’, we are drawing attention of our citizens to the positive changes taking place all over the State, including growth of our economy, breath-taking rebuilding of Lagos and the renewal of hope in citizens. Let us write a new history.”

Solomon said the party would be rolling out campaign materials to all nooks and crannies of the State to showcase the achievements of the Sanwo-Olu administration, urging residents of Lagos to support the effort to renew the Governor’s mandate.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Sam Egube, said Sanwo-Olu’s re-election bid was proper. He noted that Lagos rose in its challenging period, saying: “Mr. Governor never allowed those challenges to bring Lagos on its knees.”

Egube said the simultaneous development of two rail lines, building of a deep seaport and delivery of international standard bus stations were evidence that Greater Lagos had started to rise.

Glorious Day For Tinubu As He Rode Triumphantly with Fashola, Sanwo-Olu, Tokunbo Abiru, Gbaja, Others To Lagos APC Presidential Rally ~Ajasa-Info

By Adebola Adeyeye

It was indeed a glorious day for the revered National Leader and the All Progressives Congress, Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday at the APC Presidential and Lagos Gubernatorial campaign flag-off.

The campaign venue, the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos was filled to the brim. The mammoth party supporters spilled to the pitch and overflows of the stadium. It was a show of loyalty and love for the man who has done well for Lagos and the people.  As early as 7 am, APC members and supporters and  Lagosians have begun to converge on the stadium for the mother of all rallies!

Before noon, activities have revved up in the stadium with goodwill messages from notable party stalwarts and nollywood actors endorsing the Tinubu/ Shettima candidature and also all APC candidates. The crowd waited patiently for the arrival of the presidential candidate and his entourage.

Alas, the big masquerade arrived in the company of trusted proteges he had mentored – Former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru, House of Representatives Speaker, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and other political associates, including the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and some state governors.

All clad in white  Agbada with the APC insignia and the signature Asiwaju caps,  they rode in a double-decker with open roof from Marina enroute Funsho Williams Avenue to Teslim Balogun Stadium, the campaign venue, Lagosians trooped to the streets to cheer the builder of modern Lagos and his entourage.

Asiwaju Tinubu was fulfilled as a statesman, seeing men he mentored in leadership standing with him when it mattered most! And these are not loafers in the polity. They are pace setters, achievers in the national and sub-national governments in Nigeria.

Asiwaju’s successor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, was the litmus test of Tinubu’s leadership recruitment dexterity. He brought Fashola forward as the best man for the job in 2007. BRF, performed excellently to the admiration of Lagosians and all Nigerians. He became a posterboy for good governance which undoubtedly aided his appointment as a super minister in the Buhari government.

The current Lagos State governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, also an alumnus  of  Asiwaju school of politics and governance is breaking new frontiers in Infrastructure, Health, Education, and others in furtherance of the Lagos Master Plan envisioned by Asiwaju Tinubu.
Tokunbo Abiru, an accomplished accountant and seasoned economist and administrator, is another star that emerged from the Tinubu leadership mill. Abiru, a former Lagos State Commissioner of Finance was head-hunted by Asiwaju Tinubu for the Lagos East Senatorial District assignment in 2020.

Abiru, who is fondly called the #DoingGood Senator is making the Leader, the entire party and Lagos East constituents proud with his outstanding achievements in less than two years in the saddle. He has facilitated many projects within a short period, including 40 bed health facilities in 3 locations across the district.

Every month, Abiru supports over 2500 vulnerable people under his COVID-19 Relief Scheme with stipends, the Senator also facilitated SUKUK funding for Ikorodu/Sagamu Road which is almost completed, he facilitated 960-Capacity Stadium in Epe, and remodelled the popular Oluwo Fish Market. He also facilitated constructions of blocks of classrooms across Lagos East Senatorial District.

The #DoingGood Senator also provided N300 Million(Three Hundred Million Naira) Constituency Intervention Revolving Loan at 6% per annum for MSMEs in the District.

The Senator, who is a core professional in politics, understands the dynamics of the fourth Industrial Revolution which conceptualises rapid change to technology, industries, and societal patterns and processes in the 21st century due to increasing interconnectivity and smart automation. To prepare young people for the enormous opportunities in Innovation,  digital and technology, he  established Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), the first of its kind Innovation Hub in Lagos East.

Rt Hon Olufemi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House is also an exemplary leader who has positively changed legislative narrative in Nigeria. Across Surulere, the imprints of excellence service of Gbajabiamila are very pronounced. He was also on the top of the bus with Asiwaju and the aforementioned achievers.

These illustrious men are part of the members of the great team Asiwaju had assembled for the national assignment of renewed hope project. Fashola, Sanwo-Olu, Abiru, Gbaja, Wale Edun, Dele Alake and many others are great assets to the Asiwaju political family.

TINUBU CHARGES NIGERIANS NOT TO ALLOW PDP NEAR NATION’S COMMONWEALTH AGAIN ~Ajasa-Info

Image

…Urges Lagosians to vote Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat for second term

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has called on Nigerians not to allow the Peoples Democratic Party anywhere near the Nigeria’s commonwealth again because of the destruction the party wrought on the country.

Tinubu made the call on Saturday in Lagos at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere venue of APC Presidential Campaign’s mega rally where he also recalled how Lagos gave him a chance to deploy his talents for national progress and preservation of progressive politics.

“I thank the Almighty Allah and the good people of Lagos State for a place to stand, from which I could deploy my talents to mobilise like-minded Progressives to defend this great city.”

The APC Presidential candidate said his party’s campaign is a broom revolution, and invoking the spirit of his late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, the Iyaloja-General, he followed up with a folksong, singing in Yoruba, “Dagunro o se je, Tinubu o se pa,” meaning literally that he can not be killed.

Tinubu said he would continue with progressive government where Nigerians will not be forgotten in education, healthcare and employment generation.

The former Lagos State governor who spoke partly in Yoruba took a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, describing him a veteran aspirant who should go home and rest.

“Atiku contested in SDP, he contested in PDP; he contested in ACN when we rescued him from Obasanjo. Now he is contesting again in PDP. He should go home and rest,” adding that Nigerians should never allow him and his party near the country’s commonwealth.

“Atiku has been running. Use your PVC to vote him and his party out. Use your votes to retire him permanently this time. We must never again allow the rapacious and visionless gang of Peoples Destroying People to come near our commonwealth again. They were in government for 16 years, they didn’t remember Badagry Expressway, they didn’t remember East-West Road, they didnt remember 2nd Niger Bridge.”

To underscore his support across the country, Tinubu noted that Governors of Kano, Kastina, Kaduna, Kwara, Kebbi and other APC Governors were with him unlike his opponent who could not hold his party together.

Tinubu again used the opportunity of the rally to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to the development of Nigeria and Lagos State.

“I specially thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the unprecedented Federal support and commitment to Lagos State. We have come a long way from Presidents whose sole obsession was to capture or conquer Lagos in do-or-die fashion, to a President who loves the state greatly and is keen to see it do very well.

“Lagos has benefited tremendously in terms of infrastructure development, whether it is the Lagos-Ibadan Railway line, or the Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki Expressway, the revamped National Theatre, the new International Airport Terminal or the support that has made the Lekki Deep Sea Port possible and the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, as well as the Red Line of the Lagos Metro, which is sharing part of the Federal corridor,” he said.

Addressing the massive rally on the importance of sustaining the progressive governance in Lagos State, Tinubu urged Lagosians to vote for Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for second term.

“Dear Lagosians, my appeal to you today, is to ask you to renew the mandate of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat for another 4 years. Do not let the execution and implementation of the bold vision of more than two decades be aborted or suspended.”

For the stability of Lagos State, Asiwaju Tinubu called on the youths and students to vote for Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat.

“The lives of over 22 million people are too important to be subjected to tragic experiments in the hands of kindergarten politicians. Babajide Sanwo-olu and Obafemi Hamzat have been schooled in the finest tradition of people-management and development planning.”

Present at the rally were the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu.

Others included the Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaigns and Governor of Plateau State, Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, as well as Governors Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti). Also present were Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare, former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi

There were also members of the APC National Working Committee, National Assembly members and Ministers.

Welcoming the dignitaries and people of Lagos, Governor Sanwo-olu thanked Asíwájú for the foundation he laid in the state and the legacies he left behind as governor, saying he is the right man for the presidency in 2023.

Governor Bagudu who spoke on behalf of the 22 APC Governors thanked the Lagos governor for the successful rally.

“Our party leadership and governors believe in Asíwájú and for the right reasons. The world economy has been challenged, Nigeria inclusive. We need someone of Asíwájú’s standing and pedigree to take over to help the country wade through,” he said.

Speaker Gbajabiamila commended Asíwájú for his investment in human capacity, saying he has developed more people than any others.

“There is a lot to be said about Asíwájú. He is the most investigated Nigerian and nothing has been found against him. “

The DG of the campaigns, Hon. Lalong said Asíwájú Tinubu has the character and capacity to lead Nigeria and ensure equity and justice to all parts of the country, adding that with Asíwájú and Shettima, Nigerians would have no cause to regret.

•Tayo Ayinde, Baba Eto lead grassroots campaign for APC candidates

An Independent Campaign Group (ICG) has been floated in Lagos State for the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the actualisation of the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Frontline politician and Christian leader, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, popularly known as Baba Eto, is the chairman of the independent group whose role will be complementary to the ongoing campaign of the Lagos APC.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, who led similar effort in 2018, is the Director General of the ICG. Ayinde will be overseeing the activities of all the directorates under the group.

The ICG was constituted purposely for the mobilisation of voters at the grassroots level towards meeting the target of five million votes for the party in the presidential candidate and to deliver votes across Lagos councils for the party’s governorship flag bearer.

Odunmbaku said the mandate of the ICG was to create a penetrating structure that would independently take the party’s campaign activities to the grassroots. He said the group’s mission was to operate from the grassroots to the top level.

He said: “Our work is a simple but technical one, because we operate from the grassroots to the top level. This Independent Campaign Group is an assembly of grassroots volunteers and mobilisers working for the actualisation of the presidential ambition of our leader, Asiwaju Tinubu, and for the re-election of our performing Governor Sanwo-Olu.

“Everyone appointed into this group has been given the charge to engage Lagosians on our message. They have shown their readiness to work and take the campaign to the voters in theirs abodes. Our operation and activities are independent of the party’s ongoing campaign but we will be working in complementary to the campaign activities of the party.”

IGBOGBO-BAIYEKU LCDA HOSTS THE 2022 SECURITY SUMMIT, SECOND YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF JOINT TASK FORCE (JTF) ~Ajasa-Info

Image

Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA hosted the 2022 security summit and marked the second year anniversary of Joint Task Force (JTF) Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA at the Adeboruwa palace yesterday 24th of November, 2022.

In the speech of the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Bldr Olusesan Mayokun Daini

“Today we are marking the second year of inauguration of our local security joint force in Igbogbo-Baiyeku, palace of Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom, we want to once again thank God and to appreciate his Mercy over us for running this body for two years without any major issues, and that does not mean we did not have any casuality in the cause of operation, but we thank God we are standing forth.”

“The Secretary to the Local Government Barr. Ade Ayeni has made mention of the process of this formation which I will officially reiterate again. This local task force was the bet of the peace and security committee of the council that we need to form this body, bringing together all the local security forces within our community under total supervision monitoring of the Nigeria police force and other security agencies stated in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.”

“In getting them we made it open that all of them should go for public screening. We set up a committee and in the committee we have all the peace security members represented in the committee. They are screened, and after the screening they are fully profiled then brought to the palace for traditional certification or engagement the godfathers of our land shall go with us and be with us.”

Presentation of Certificates

“So we thank God , officially I want to say that we wouldn’t have been able to achieve all this without the permission, blessings and prayer of Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu orimade kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdomAnd the entire Adeboruwa council and Olubeshe and the entire olubese council. We are doing all this because of their prayers, support and blessing. I want to equally inform us that for this two years of operation, we have encountered alot of challenges like i earlier said, we lost one of our men in the cause of this issue. But we thank God that we took responsibility of what happened and we decided to take of the children and the family. Today, we will be inviting the Lasaco representative because we have concluded all arrangements to put all our men on life assurance by LASACO.”

We have decided to put all our men on life insurance with LASACO knowing that what they are doing is exposing them to some danger. With this life assurance, we are saying that if anything happens to them, God forbid they will be covered and their family will be covered for life. we will be engaging them on that as soon as we finish this program.

“I equally want to inform us that making sure our men pass through normal police force ethics, let me note that what we are doing today is promoting the policy and the idea of the Nigeria police encouraging local and public policing. We are not police and we are not in anyway close to any of the security agencies listed in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. But what we are doing is supporting, collaborating and providing reasonable information and support to our security agencies To make sure that they get to the root of the crime.

I will say this categorically that all crimes are local and that is why you will see that the crime in Ikorodu might be different from the crime in Kano. So for us to actually tackle insecurity in our community and country, we need to localise the process of handling policing, security. One particular process can not solve crises and challenges in this country.

“It is on this note that we have decided to localize and support the country in making sure that we have does done and we thank God that our police officers have been doing greatly well to give us maximum support equally we will be having annual security summit. The annual Security submit will be an avenue for all of to come review our security problem, review the solution and collectively come together to provide solution to future action.

“I want to say this that I would have add our people, the representative of the state security Apparatus all present here but today , Lagos State government is equally having a security submit at VI and that is where most of our security heads are right now . I am happy as this shows God is with us, coincidentally we can be holding a security submit in Igbogbo and the Governor of Lagos State is holding a security submit at V.I . It shows we are in spirit and we are moving forward.”

He added “I want to say equally that we are having engagement today is just for one singular reason, the reason is to support security agencies across board and making sure that we localize our approach and I can say categorically that we have been having positive results. I equally want to tell you that in making sure that our people perform very well, we have decided to send them to Nigeria police college in ikeja, what you have seen them do today last week they just came back from a training at the police college in Ikeja, where they were trained about intelligent and community policing, how they can use some strategy to solve and to get security problems solved within our community today in your presence.”

“I will be providing and presenting certificates issued by Lagos State Police command to all of them after their graduation last week. I equally want to say we have 53 of them on the salary of Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA for more than two years. And I am bold to say we are not owing them for more than 27 months that we have been paying them. In fact in about three months ago we increased their salary by over 50% to make sure that we encourage them and they did not in anyway go into conspiracy with any other body that wants to connive with them to commit crime in our community.” He concluded

Oniba Ekun of Iba Land, Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Raji-Asade and Alakesan of Akesan Land, Oba Nojeem Abidemi Ogunjobi were also present at the occasion.

The DPO CSP A.R Balogun commend the The Joint Task Force JTF in carrying out their assignments at the local area, he attested to their efforts in two years of existence, he also said within this two years we are relieved, he commend the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Bldr. Olusesan Daini for coming up with this great initiative.

Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom commend Bldr. Olusesan Daini and the JTF team for restoring peace in Igbogbo Kingdom and he prayed for God’s protection in their services.

Chief Tajudeen Onasanya Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, Olubeshe in Council and other stakeholders present, all commend the efforts of the Joint Task Force JTF for their hard work in the last two years of existence and implore them not to relent.
